The ten-minute speaker at the most recent Ulladulla & District Probus Club meeting was member, Craig Freeman. Craig and his wife Kerry visited Iceland in June this year. Iceland provided spectacular opportunities for Craig as a keen photographer. There is very little forest so most houses are constructed of metal or concrete.Churches are found in the open landscape, apparently built by farmers who then lease them to worshipers.
The natural environment includes large tracts of almost bare lava. Glaciers, volcanoes, large waterfalls, mud pools and geothermal steam vents also feature. The thermal waters heat popular public baths and electricity is generated from the thermal activity. Apart from birds, the only indigenous animal is a little fox, all others are introduced. The most popular bird to photograph is the puffin.
The guest speaker was John Broughton from Tailor-Made Financial Services in Milton which was formed in 2002. Areas of financial advice include superannuation, retirement, investments, personal insurance, debt management, budgeting and aged care. A financial planner can help clients get ahead financially resulting in peace of mind.
A client should ask a planner about their qualifications and if they are a Certified Financial Planner. Does the planner have an Australian Financial Services Licence? Also ask about the planner’s experience and fees. John provided a financial services update with reference to the Royal Commission recommendations. He also gave a budget and legislation update including the Labor Party scrapping recent proposed changes, the downsizer superannuation contribution, current age pension figures, and aged care rules. His economic update focussed on Australia, the US and Brexit. John concluded by saying that Tailor-Made also gives intergenerational advice to assist clients and their children with financial decisions.
