Celebrate our local history at the Shoalhaven Timber Festival at Milton Showground on Saturday 12 October 2019. Festival goers can enjoy a peek into the important parts of the timber history of the Shoalhaven:
check out photos and displays of the early Timber Getting Days, dating all the way back to the 1800s
chat to representatives of the past and present building, timber and logging days, and
check out the tools used in the late 1800s and 1900s to cut and prepare timber for all sorts of uses.
That’s not all. There’s heaps to do:
woodwork and other hand-crafted stalls
splitting of shingles demonstrations
wood chops and chainsaw demonstration
loaded log trucks
real timber men using a crosscut saw
Horse and bullock teams
Vintage and modern timber workings
Australian History book sale
Convicts who became Bushman and timber workers, and
Market and food stalls.
