On court group numbers to be reduced at Tennis Camps
Local Tennis is On!
On 13 April 2020, Tennis Australia made the decision to suspend all Tennis Australia sanctioned tennis events indefinitely due to the impact of the corona virus. This includes the South East Region Junior Development Series of which the Milton Ulladulla District Tennis Association was due to host a round on 3 May 2020 as well as all Junior Tour and Australian Money Tournament Australian Ranking events.
Tennis Australia has made the decision to take the precautions in the interest of the health and wellbeing of our community. The goal is to avoid bringing crowds together in order to help contain the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) and minimise the inevitable strain on our healthcare system. The decision is based on expert medical advice and is in line with the recommendations of the global tennis community.
At the same time, Tennis Australia encourages local community tennis activities to continue as it plays a pivotal role for our community by providing an opportunity to remain active, whilst promoting the benefits of physical and mental wellbeing during these uncertain times. So our message is that tennis at a local level remains open. The Ulladulla Tennis Academy do run programs suitable for health and fitness not requiring match play, without participants getting too close, without congregating in big numbers, and without adding materially to the national risk posed by the spread of this virus. Social play within the appropriate structure should still be encouraged. Tennis NSW have issued a set of guidelines that the Milton Ulladulla District Tennis Association as well as the Ulladulla Tennis Academy are following.
With this in mind, but allowing that circumstances can change at any time, the Ulladulla Tennis Academy Holiday Tennis Camps are likely to go ahead. Week 1 Camp is set to run Monday 13 April 2020-Thursday 16 April 2020. Week 2 is set to run Monday 2 April 2020-22 Wednesday 2020. To comply with the recommended guidelines for Tennis Camps and activities in regard to the management of COVID-19, numbers will be limited, and bookings are essential to allow small groups to be undertaking activities with each coach available.
Attendees requiring a loan racquet will be designated a cleaned and disinfected racquet each day. Don’t forget to take care of yourself and your family and friends by keeping safe social distancing and regularly washing your hands. Bookings for the camp can be made by contacting Kevin Murphy on 0417 359 721.
