Milton Show 2020 Poetry Event

Saturday 7 March 2020 saw a very successful performance poetry event at the Milton show where a total of forty-four people took the stage and entertained the audience, reciting poetry. The event had three separate competitions commencing at 8.00am with a poet’s breakfast and walk up performances which attracted fourteen contestants. The competition carried prize money to third place, and the successful contestants were: First: Bob “Pa”Kettle; Second: Craig Green; and Third: Andrew Pulsford.
The Ruth Davis Memorial Junior Poetry Speaking Competition commenced at 9.30am, and attracted fifteen junior contestants who, without exception, performed brilliantly and were very entertaining. This competition carried prize money to third place and ribbons and mugs to sixth place. Every child that went onto the stage and performed a poem received a book prize. The top six performers were

The Open Poetry Speaking Competition had competitors from as far away as Queensland, Victoria, central New South Wales, the South Coast, and a good line-up of local people. The performances were of the highest standard and ranged from poems by Australia’s iconic poets, modern contemporary poets and a good number of original works composed and performed by the poets themselves. The competition commenced at 11.00am and finished at 1.00pm, and carried prize money plus ribbons and mugs to sixth place. The top six places were:

Third: Andrew Pulsford
Fourth: Bob “Pa” Kettle
Fifth: David Stanley; and sixth Jim Lamb
